The price of consoles in Europe is the same as a decent gaming pc 400-500 Euro (yes we get screwed over by the exchange rate like on every bloody product), that's why in Europe we have a much bigger PC community than console community.
I still think that if you end up playing a console with a keyboard and mouse you might as well buy a PC for 400-500$, especially to play an MMO.
There is only one type of games which are more competitive on consoles than PC, sports games (including cars obv.), all others are greatly enhanced by the kbd and mouse combo (only shooter played on a competitive level on console was Halo because it was only made for xbox ) .
To be honest I wouldnt care less if they put consoles and PCs together for MMOs as long as it was only for PvP, It would just let me stomp on kids alot more (yey), however I would never EVER want a console player in a PvE dungeon... god the number of wipes caused by standing in the fire would be too great.
And yes, an MMO designed to be challenging will lose its integrity if transfered on consoles, at least at a PC gaming level (just look at ESO, they literally went from "our game will be hard", to "we need moar moneys so we are making it also for consoles, no moar raids for you PC gamersonly GW2 style easy mode world bosses). About that... You know which MMO would work fine on consoles? GW2, because it's designed to be casual and no one would be sad about it being made even easier.
PS: for those who think that consoles have the same internal pieces of a PC, please buy a console open it and look at the junk they sell you for 400-500$... bellow you see the PS4 and Xbox One hardware (top one is Xbox, bottom info is PS4 this is from E3), the stuff in it is 2-3 years old and you are paying it like it's new tech.
