My big question really is will the mother board run it all?

Yes, that rig should be able to play GW2 no problem. However, I have to ask. Are you an AMD fanboy? Or are you willing to look at Intel chips? Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge blow AMD chips out of the water. If you're not a brand loyalist, I would check out the i5-2500k($220), if you're going to OC. The i5-2500($210) if you aren't going to OC. Hell, even the i3-2120 @ $110 on Newegg bests that AMD chip.

the amd thing was more a price concern then anything else im not dead set and a super powerhouse system and as a recent college grad my funding for this isnt massive.

Understandable. You picked out a solid rig. The pinnacle of which, the 6950, is a nice card. If money is a big concern, I would take a look at the 6870's. $150 vs $250 for a 6950. I had one of them in my last 2500K machine and it handled everything I threw at it with no problem. The 6850 is only $10 less than the 6870, I would spend the extra $10.

He hasn't built the computer yet so he can't run that.

AMD is a good cheap CPU if you are short on cash, and if you don't want to spend that much on the graphics card a 6850 or 6870 would be good too.

However if you do get a 6850, you should get this one instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150515

It comes with a Lifetime manufacturer warranty and XFX cards are great overall.

Agreed, XFX was the only company I purchased from for ATI/AMD cards. I would get the 6870 over the 6850 though.

Another good company with a helpful feature is EVGA and their Step Up program. You could buy, say a GTX 560 right now for $180 and if you come into some extra cash in 3 months you can send that card back and upgrade by only paying the difference between the two cards. GTX680 ($500) - $180 = $320 later on. GTX700 is $100 less. Food for thought.

They also have the EVGA Advanced RMA thing. If you ever have to RMA your card, you can have them send you a replacement one so you're not up shit's creek while you wait a month for yours to be repaired. $30 fee, but it covers shipping. I got it with my 680.

i went with sapphire 6850 the one i posted under the rig it was 150 and should be more then capable of doing what i need. and http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/ says i can run gw2 on my current rig so idk how much i trust it, ether way with the 6850 i should be fine

What does your current rig look like? It doesn't look like GW2 is very demanding, but being able run it and being able to run it at max settings are two different things. You should be able to run nearly max'ed out with the new rig.

Exactly which processor? The Athlon II X4 620 Propus? Honestly, I would've kept that and got a mac daddy GPU and memory. Even get a Phenom II X4 965 for $100 like Thovarisk has.

i dont remember exactly i got this thing like three years ago pre-build, and when i was looking at upgrading vs building a new one it was going to be easier to just sell this rig to my dad who doesnt need anything better than this and just put it toward a whole new one that is easier to upgrade

Oh, nice. The best part about building your own rig is selling it to someone for nearly what it cost to build. (Although you probably gave your dad a deal.) I usually build a new machine with every platform change (9-15months) and every time but once I've broken even. I throw a couple hundred bucks at the new machine each time. I'm already looking forward to the Haswell launch.

Yeah im selling him my current rig and a 23 inch LCD for like 380 and my new one cost me right at 800. Only problem is Thursday when it all gets in I've got to get it put together which I've never done and Idk if I trust myself to do. Trying to find a friend who might know how, really don't want to have to pay someone.

youtube it... i think Linus has a tutorial AKA linustechtips channel... i might look for it for you in a lil bit.
