Age of Ultron Reactions [SPOILERS]

I saw Age of Ultron on opening night and wanted to give my impressions and hear what everyone else thought. Lots of spoilers, duly noted in the title.

First off, I was very pleased with how they treated Ultron. He was more fun and snarky than I ever remember him being, but that makes sense since the movie lore has him created by Stark vs Pym in the comics. I did get a little bored seeing the same robot smashed over and over again by the end, but the sheer number of them was pretty fantastic.

I also loved seeing Vision. He's not a favorite character of mine, but I like how they worked him in a way that didn't feel that forced and also helped to provide some set up towards Infiinity War. I'm less excited about the New Avengers they introduce at the end. War Machine is basically a budget Iron Man, and I think Falcoln is pretty worthless.

Did Quicksilver die or not? They seemed to imply death, but it usually takes more than a few dozen bullets to kill a comic book character.

There was way too little Scarlet Witch and too underpowered as well. Maybe they are giving her room to grow? Quicksilver definitely stole all the new recruit spotlight and they casted Wanda as constantly needing protection.

Any excuse for a Hulk fight is a good one, I guess, but mind control starts to wear thin.

I was a bit surprised to see Thanos at the end declaring he was going to take care of things himself. I didn't expect an appearance from him until Infinity War. The next movie is Ant-Man, so you know there's no way he's fighting Thanos. Perhaps he will factor into the next Thor? or possibly Guardians of the Galaxy?

Quicksilver is likely dead. The reason being is that Sony has rights to all the X-men shown in the X-men movies out. Avengers started production while Future Past was also in production so they were able to show him in this movie, however since he became a named X-man in the Sony picture, Marvel can no longer use his name/rights. Hence they kill him off stupidly. This also means no wolverine in the avengers or any other of the staple Xmen that have been in and out... Unless Sony stops being dicks. We'll see, since they decided to finally share spiderman.

I liked it. I do, however, come from a place of ignorance since I'm not as well-versed in Avengers lore.

I loved Scarlet Witch. I'm hoping they make her more prominent in the next one.

I was sad they killed Quicksilver. He was cute.

Thank you, this just saved me the movie ticket.

You should at least see it when it drops in price. It was really good.[DOUBLEPOST=1430872650,1430872568][/DOUBLEPOST]

Totally agree about SW. Her power set is really cool and unpredictable. At one point, she erases just about every mutant from existence! She basically just screws with reality.

I think they are setting Scarlet Witch up to be a badass honestly. I loved the movie, hate the bullshit with Sony though.

Because if they gave her what her normal power-set is from the comic books, the story would be over really fast. Her powers are basically PLOT in the comics. So doing that wouldn't go well in a movie. Personally I liked her in this. She goes from being a kinda scared and uncertain girl to taking control and being awesome. See how she took apart those Ultron robots? Badass.

I really loved her scene where she ripped out Ultron's heart.

It was good. I felt underwhelmed and that they rushed this one. Don't get me wrong I still loved the movie and their funny one liners. Quicksilver is probably dead and yeah Scarlet Witch felt very underpowered and babyish. Captain America does tell Black Widow that they need to "train" their new recruits so maybe she will grow up a bit for the films. This movie feels like a giant set up for their final movie in phase 3.

On to the Thanos. I think the reason they are bringing him in so soon is because they are about to finish up phase 2 and the final phase, phase 3 is right around the corner so they need to bring him in pretty soon to mess everything together.

I could also see the setup for Civil War, with the new recruits sticking with Capt America and the others siding with Iron Man.

If I remember right, Thor pretty much stayed out of it.

I think civil war is slated for 1 movie, I think it should be stretched out to at least 2

I don't think we can expect the same epic as we had in the comics. If they were to make it to its full potential, I agree it could easily fill 2 movies. While it has been described by some commentators as an Avengers 2.5, it still is just filling the slot of Captain America 3.

Seems to me like Thanos might be involved in Civil War to some extentextent (which is interesting) but as a whole the movie seemed unfinished. I heard Whedon had to cut a lot from the final edit and it shows.

The Widow/Banner romance seemed forced, despite decent chemistry.

It's apparent that Paul Bettany is the best actor in the whole movie, which is awesome. Vision absolutely stole every scene he was in.

Ultron was a fodder villain and the least menacing of any presented in the films to date. Didn't care for him at all.

The Twins were additions I couldn't care less about. The accents were distracting.

Basically, the movie was meh.

Pietro is supposed to have an accent. He doesn't in the X-men evolution series though cause... Reasons?

We must save the children from the Red Influences.
I would love to see Omega Red anywhere in one of these movies... But then people might be like... Is that supposed to be the guy from iron man 2?

Is your title declaring you to be a well-paid terrorist?
Oh, actually its a quote from Deadpool. He's sitting around watching TV as Wade Wilson, the phone rings. The person on the other end asks, "May I speak to Deadpool?" Wade says "Hang on a second...." He puts on the mask and says into the phone "This is Deadpool." "Deadpool, the mercenary?" Asks the man on the other line, to whit Deadpool replies "I prefer 'generously compensated establishment provocateur'."

I dunno, I wouldn't describe mercenary as an "establishment provocateur." After all, they are perfectly willing to work for the establishment. I'd be willing to go with a "generously compensated purveyor of potent persuasion." But that's Wadey for you, I guess.

Oh I agree there, I just found the quote funny. Haha.
