As others have said, it really is a good value. It's cheap enough that I don't feel bad playing it in phases. I'll get all into it for a while, then something (like this time, Neverwinter) will take up my time, then eventually I'll be back to building. It's one of those games that you can just "play when you feel like it" and feel like you got your money's worth. It can be terribly addicting. :)

Edit: and you can totally get into it if you wern't there for initial ground-breaking. The world is huge, and you can easily run off to your own area of it and play around with a fresh landscape.

The world was reset to a fresh start on April 17th, 2013 and is now back online. Let's punch some trees! We're running Vanilla 1.5.1 this time around, so no mods needed!

Same boat as Jia. I've noticed there is a community server. Do you just pick a spot and say " this be my land"?[DOUBLEPOST=1367515302,1367515223][/DOUBLEPOST]

Remember this game looks like SHIT. Just a reminder for those who enjoy aesthetics. Legos IRL look better than this game :p

All I see is pixelated crap. You won't convince me on this :p Doesn't mean I don't see the appeal of it or the work that went into making the above stuff. Still doesn't mean it looks good. :p The pixels are the proof!

Graphics are a huge part of games for me, I have to stop playing some games due to terrible texturing and animation. Minecraft can have awesome textures, but yes, you're always going to have the blocky (not pixelated) look to it. It's part of the charm of the game, it's not about high-poly models. I think the game looks amazing when running around in it, blockiness and all. So yeah, it doesn't "look like shit" but it certainly has its own unique look that not everyone is going to enjoy.

It's always migrated. For some reason the most recent reset caused the whole whitelist to be lost for the first time. I had to manually rebuild it by going through the forum thread and PMs in my inbox. I'm sure I missed a few, sorry about that. You were added back last week.

Yeah, you can build wherever you want, but try to stay a little ways away from other people's creations unless you've spoken with them and they want to build together with you (they might have plans for expansion, etc.). The initial idea behind this server reset was to set up the central outpost of Four Corners, everyone building one structure there, and then move outward from there to build our own forts. Some people like working together on things, others like to build their own creations. Ask around. :)

But yeah, if you head out into the wilderness and find an area that you like, by all means, claim it for your own!
 
Server was renewed for another 6 months!

I know there hasn't been a ton of activity on it, but I like to have the server there for when I feel like playing. Were people not enjoying Vanilla and and to go back to a more expanded mod? (I personally like vanilla, but I want everyone to be happy, and I don't have a ton of free time at the moment to play)

I like vanilla, but I also have been very busy. There are still quite a few boxes clogging up the living room, and we have yet to buy a couch, lol. In addition, I have more important things than unpacking to get done in the next couple of weeks.

On the other hand, I'm going effing crazy not being able to play any games. Not only do I not have time, but my laptop keeps overheating and shutting itself off when I attempt to play anything. /sadface
 
I think we just go through waves haha. I've been thinking of hopping back on and fiddling the past week, but something always seems to intervene that drive and it ends up on the back burner (which I feel bad about because it's not me paying for the server :( ).
 
I get on when I have time, haven't had much time lately. Been focusing in my fitness and MOVING BACK TO TEXAS!!! But I split my time between there, my Tekkit Lite server and PS2....until I Get in the "You know what" Beta :p
