Wildstar Tips for Surviving in a PvP Server!

Alright folks, this weekend was a wake up call after venturing into the open world PvP zones. My last two MMO's were pretty lax in the terms of open world PvP. They didn't exist. (GW2, FFXIV). I was abruptly reminded how fierce and uncaring world PvP is. It's unbalanced, ruthless, harsh, and god so much fun. So here are some things to remember when rolling out of Thayd around level 22 into Whitevale.

1. It's a numbers game! Rolling as a group while questing increases your chances of winning even against opponents who are higher level than you. Group up as frequently as possible to ensure not only survival, but victory!

2. Nothing is against the rules or "cheap" - Use everything at your disposal. Soldier path weapons? Consumables? Settler buffs? If it's in the game, USE IT! Medishots can be expensive, but keeping some on you to prevent death is a game changer! They can restore half of your health at most levels.

3. Skill > Gear, but gear makes one helluva difference! Make sure you're properly upgrading your gear. Don't be afraid to mix in some extra defenses just in case. Grit may seem like a worthless stat since your DPS lowers a little, but some extra health can mean taking an extra hit or two between heals. Also remember that PvP gear exists! Never hurts to keep some on you if you have access to it.

4. Think about rolling Hybrid specs! Increase your tank or heal abilities for those clutch moments. Think about how your amps are really set up. Think about where you could replace some things and get some more survivability. You may not be the fastest solo'er with max DPS, but you'll be able to outlive your opponents better!

5. CC is the name of the game. I'm currently running with only 2 CC abilities and 1 anti CC ability. When my 8th slot opens up, I'm putting in another CC focus'd ability. There is nothing better than someone trying to run away, only to be consistently knocked down, pushed, bound, disarmed, you name it and getting killed just a few steps away from a sanctuary. Use them and lock them down!

Help yourself and post some more tips for others. It's always best to plan ahead than to be caught with your pants down!

Awesome job. With the little bit of PvP i did #5 is a BIG one. CC is going to be a you live or you die situation.

Nothing was cooler than chasing after a stalker, seeing him stealth out of my melee range, and me popping Tremor on him for a CRAZY crit, knocking him out of stealth, and pushing/stunning him just long enough where I could run over, kick him, power swing, steroid, and power swing again for the kill.

I encountered some PvP this weekend as well. Gyoin's points are spot on, especially about the CC. As far as I can tell there is very little in terms of CC diminishing returns right now so you can lock down that pesky healer.

PvP is fast paced, fun, and new again. I can't wait to see how things go once the game goes live.

As a Warrior, I have the ability Emergency Reserves that gives me 1 Interrupt Armor (negating a CC). All I have to say is, amazing.

Medics later on get some multiple target interrupt armor buffs!
Also, VERY important for wpvp (and pvp in general) in WS, is group diversity, as the different classes and moves have different lockouts for CC's.[DOUBLEPOST=1398708413,1398708276][/DOUBLEPOST]Sorry for double post (edit: oh nice it merged them)

At least right now it is all other nothing, so if they are on CC cooldown from that ability, it simply will not work.

You forgot the best part Gyoin

6. Open world PvP is the best damn PvP experience you will ever have.

I feel like AltTabMe should get together and make a video in the style of 1950s school informational videos about world PvP. "Ganking and You" or something.

Zorph made a great point. You can't stack stuns or chain stuns one after the other on people. There's a small window of CC immunity which I imagine is effective per CC type. So keep an eye on what your buddies are doing so you don't waste your CC on someone who is immune.
