Mouse in the House!

I wrote it out in the other thread that I can't find at the moment via search, but essentially, their binding software is fail and the mouse buttons were just awkward. Also, the cord that connects to it is stiff, not braided. I had high hopes, but it wasn't for me. I like the Naga so far.
Returned the Naga today. Was causing my right hand to cramp up, and I'm not risking another carpal tunnel surgery. I'll stick with my trusty Death Adder. With shift/ctrl modifiers, it has plenty of capability for GW2.

Yeah, I don't blame you there. The Death Adder is a great mouse.

In regards to the G700's SetPoint SW, my initial opinion is to agree with you. As my time to tinker with it has been limited, it doesn't appear to be all that great. I'm eager to see how it handles the key-binds and such once GW2 release arrives.

However, I like the overall feel of the mouse so far. The buttons are easy to access. After buying the G700 I tried my buddy's Naga and I just couldn't wrap my head (and hand) around all those buttons. I struggled reaching quite a few of them. Whether I use the G700 in wireless mode for gaming is a question I'll have to figure out through general play. I have heard mixed reviews over how much game time you get with a charge - 6+ hours has been the general consensus. The cord to charge it is rather stiff, but doesn't seem to be a big problem while using the mouse...at least not yet.

Yep, I'm just very picky with mice, I'll admit it.

Both the G700 and the Naga will be great for other people for sure, I just personally will stick with my 2-side-button mouse and modifiers. :)

In anticipation for GW2 I bought the G700 and the G13 about four months ago and I've been using them both for gaming (GW2, D3, Arma2, Borderlands) since then.

I immediately fell in love with the G13, using it with my left hand has become as natural as holding a mouse in my right. The little thumb joystick for movement took some getting used to, but the fact that my ring-, middle- and index fingers have been relieved from juggling both movement (strafing) and skill activation is just great!

The G700 on the other hand (teehee!)...
The quality is great, it's easily one of the best mice I've laid hands on. Nice grip, good weight, high quality material (the surface has a very nice feel to it) and a perfect solution for recharging the battery via USB cable while you continue to use the mouse.
Unfortunately the G700 is a bit too small for my hands (I wear size L to XL for gloves), so I'm always touching/moving it with my fingertips. My hand never really rests on it, and I'm expecting that to cause strains down the road.

The real issue that I have with the G700 however is its software, and this simply can not be overstated: The keybinding program is abysmal!
All of my other Logitech products (G13, G35) can be programmed with the "Logitech Gaming Software", whereas the G700 needs a separate program called "Setpoint", which appears to be designed for standard non-gaming use. In fact, the software pretty much narrows down your options of keybinding - which makes most of the extra G-buttons utterly useless if you're looking to get the most out of remapping your keys.
Effectively, I'm only using two/three of eight extra buttons in-game, and I certainly don't need a G700 to get that little customization out of a mouse.
The G700 would be top-notch if it were running with the standard "Logitech Gaming Software"; unfortunately "Setpoint" really drags it down.
That being said, I wouldn't recommend buying this mouse, due to its limited use.

I love my G13 more than life itself.

The problem is that if it ever breaks, my key bindings don't make any sense and I just won't be able to play games ever again.

I've tried that and love the functionality, but it was just too large and the form didn't support my wrist as well as the nostromo 52. and I have large hands. If it had a better shape I would switch to in in an instant.

I have really long, thin fingers, so something like the Nostromo 52 would probably be a little small for me. I like having so many keys; I always manage to find a use for everything. Notice how the stick opens my inventory, map, and the Hero pane.

It doesn't really feel much more cumbersome than a real keyboard. It's a bit of a stretch to G1 and G7 in the upper corners, but it's certainly not as bad as trying to jump from WASD to 0 normally.

I had gone to setup my keys in the stress test today but my damn mac keyboard hated me. So I just used a program called SharpKeys to re-map my entire number pad in the registry to mimic the wasd f1-4 1-4 keys This way the keys are much more organized and compact. I think this will be my ultimate setup for launch.

I think one of the best things about a left hand external like the g13 and the nostromo is that you can map it to the settings in the game and you dont have to change any key binds in game.

R.O. I use the dpad for movement freeing up the keys for stuff like inventory and map and such. I don't like using wasd keys although it would make it easier to transition to a keyboard. I find it much easier to move with my thumb and use my fingers for push buttons at the same time.

Haha, that would drive me nuts. I've been holding right-click and A or D to strafe for years, and muscle memory is hard to break.

Ya I played that way through 6 1/2 years of wow. so thats where my muscle memory is.

Yep. Just picked it up and I love it. The size is fully customizable for different size hands. the back shell part moves back if you need and has 2 different pieces you can swap out for a rubberized grip or a higher wrist rest. the thumb wing with all the buttons can be adjusted forward or back so it can be in the exact right spot.
There is also interchangeable pinky rests that you cant see on this pic for the other side of the mouse. One rubberized and one with a big platform to rest your pinky so it doesnt drag. Kindof a mirror of the thumbrest on this side.
There are even weights on the bottom that can be added or removed depending on how heavy you want the mouse.
The small round button in the middle of the thumb wing is a hat button with 4 directions and a center push. And the center push will halve your dpi when held down so you can do precision aiming on the fly.
The buttons on the thumb are spaced well and you can reprogram EVERYTHING including the sideways roller under your thumb.
Dpi is fully adjustable and has 4 levels you can jump to whenever you want by pushing the black button below the mouse wheel. All 4 levels can be set by you also.
Those funny red chrome buttons on mb1 and mb2 are locks so you can push the chrome button then push the mb1 or 2 button that its attached to and it auto holds-down the button till you press it again. good for not getting carpal tunnel when trying to run places or if you want mouse look on for a long time.
On top of all that there is a mode button with 3 settings so you can program each button 3 times. Oh and a shift button so each button can be programed another time per mode for 6 possible programs for each button. That makes a total of 78 possible button presses on the mouse alone.
The software is super easy to use once you get it installed and works great. It puts a little icon in your system tray that you can switch profiles with 2 mouse clicks for changing to different games or programs like "internet friendly", "gw2", "movie editing", "blacklight retribution", etc. And there are tons of presets you can download and run for tons of games.
The software is a small pain to install because you have to download and install like 3 things including mouse specific drivers. If you dont, its basically just a 4 button mouse cause most programs and games don't recognize the extra buttons.

I totally recommend this mouse if you are looking for a multi button mouse.

I wish the M.M.O. 7 and the R.A.T. 9 would procreate an offspring with the buttons from the 7 and the wireless from the 9...

Might have to get a MMO7 and vinyl-dye it... I can't stand the colors :(

I personally don't like wireless mice as much. you get less glitches with wired mice.

Edit: I forgot to include that there are full color led's in the m1 and m2 buttons that you can set to any color for its 3 modes: mouse lock off, mouse lock on and no buttuon press, mouse lock on and button press.

How does it feel arch support of your hand?

Is it uncomfortable over time?

There are 2 available heights on the interchangeable back pieces. look at the 2:15 to 3:00 ish spots on the video. I use the lower one and have it adjusted so it just touches the fleshy part of my palm where my thumb joins. It is just enough so that I can move the mouse without having to actually grip it or use any finger pressure. My wrist is in its normal position with no strain. If you want more support you can easily move the section back or use the higher back section.

As for comfort, I really don't grip the mouse at all and my hand can just rest there. Especially with the pinky guard that is shown in the video at the 2 min mark. The mouse will take a little getting used to to find the perfect spot to have all the buttons in an easy to reach position, but it only took me one stress test to get it right. I do have to say it feels like it sits a little diagonally compared to other mice because of the angle of where the thumb and ring finger buttons are, but it turns out that makes it much easier to use the mouse wheel and it really doesn't give me any problems with using the m1 and m2.

The beauty of the mouse is you can adjust it so much that it will be able to fit your hand and/or hand position. I saw the desk hangover mouse pad thing you bought and you should have no problem finding a good configuration with this.

hmmm might have to cash in on a birthday gift with this one haha. :) We will seeee... still not convinced due to the bad reviews it gets with the horizontal and vertical tracking dying.
