"Okay so there is this one thing that has been bothering me about the pve content in wildstar...Is it going to be sufficient(quantity-wise) to keep players interested? Because im thinking that if there arent enough dungeons low-mid level to choose from then it might get pretty boring going through the same 2-3 dungeons from level 17 until cap!"

To which a Carbine rep, CRB_J-Tal, responded

"Yes, we "only" have 4 main Dungeons. But there are also 6 Adventures, which are, in my opinion, even better than dungeons due to their mechanics and multiple paths. So if you combine Dungeons and Adventures into "instance content", then we have new instance content available every 5 levels from 15 to cap."

This is raising some major red flags for me. 4 main dungeons? So we have the 2 at low lvl starting around 17 and 20 I believe and then 2 more towards or at end game. I remember reading about a couple end game dungeons, cant remember their names thought. Something of the swordmaiden. Adventures from what I read are your housing plot dungeons which sounded like they were just mini games that will scale from 1 to whatever number of players are in your party, far from a dungeon experience. He also says he likes adventures more because they will have multiple paths but that's the same thing that was said about dungeons as well. I'm hoping adventures are something different from the housing plot plug, perhaps they have not yet released info on this.

I'm actually excited about this... there is new 'group' content every 5 levels, dungeons or adventures. But coming up with gear sets to run dungeons that frequently, finding a tank and a healer, etc is gpita. In my mind, WS wants us to use the leveling process to learn about the lore and how to play our characters, but the good stuff comes in the elder game.

So as an example, WoW had like 18 dungeons at launch, but only 3-4 for end game.. Carbine knows folks level fast these days, so they are flipping it. We get more dungeons at cap, less while leveling. My understanding from the little they have said about Adventures is that they are more like instanced zones with an end goal, but less restricted to number of people and a strict trinity.

For me, this makes me feel free to explore paths and the world, rather than gathering gear for a dungeon I'll only do one or two times. It's a shift in thinking.. the elder game will be SO full, that we don't need a bunch of dungeons while leveling.. just use the ones that are available, and get to the meat of the game.

Don't forget that this is their plan for leveling dungeons. They will be working just as hard on end game content as they are for all of the leveling content. Carbine has said before they are concentrating 50% on leveling and 50% on end game.

As long as the hard mode dungeons at 50 kick my ass like WoW did initially in BC when we all got level cap and were under geared then I'll be the happiest I've been in PvE in years! Quality > Quantity, and just imagine if all the dungeons are the size of BRD from WoW? They've said the goal is for them to be huge and each run have some sort of incentives to run the dungeon a different way with special rewards for specific bosses.

Personally, I do the real work of leveling outside of dungeons. If the questing is well done, you could probably go all the way to cap without going into dungeons- except to do the quests of course. I'm not writing off Adventures as less fun or rewarding than dungeons until I see them.

This is actually one of the problems I´ve discussed with Gyoin in the chat some time ago. Since the boss mechanics change every week(?) it is a lot of work to do it for all dungeons. We did not know that they only had 4 dungeons, now the whole "change the mechanics"-thing becomes more realistic.

Personally I don´t mind. Back in WoW you were only going to 10 out of all dungeons most of the time anyway. Also I´m with Keleynal, if questing is well done, no problem here.
On the topic of adventures I will talk until there is more information.

something else to think about... what if these "adventures" that we will get every 5 levels are so are more like what we're used to in games like WoW nowadays where you get a group of 5 and zerg through them blowing AoE on everything and it being more of a casual friendly easy mode experience. then the "dungeons" will be for the more elite players who don't mind getting their asses handed to them for 2 hours as they wipe repeatedly but persevere and eventually beat them. They keep saying the real challenge is in "dungeons and raids" so I would not expect their dungeons to be anything like what we are used to. no guaranteed victory or easy loot. I'm excited! =)

What if? Meh, I'm not going to put too much effort into that. Euchale had the right idea.

They've basically said you can level through a number of mechanisms: PvP, challenges, questing, etc. It's just a guess at this point, but I think they want to make it fairly easy for everyone to find their best path to 50, b/c they really don't want people sitting at lower levels forever, since the Elder Game is going to have something for everyone (if they complete their game according to their plans at least).

So I really don't think we'll be spending long enough at any level range to feel the absence of dungeons...

I don't have a problem with this, low level flashpoints were my least favourite part about SWTOR as well. Quality over quantity. Hopefully one of them will be as fun as the rakghoul flashpoint though, because that was the tits.

Yeah this is something that doesn't really jump out at me as an issue presently. We will see when we get our feet wet how it ends up playing out. I'm not going to say it's good or bad. I mostly just ran low level dungeons for the gear anyway. I'll just have to PvP more to compensate if it isn't enough (boo hoo) ;)

I pretty much just did it for quests. I tend to ignore gear until I'm at cap. As long as I'm able to complete level appropriate tasks, I'm not concerned with optimization.

I will just leave this link here:

Shiphands = Short dungeons for 1-5 players with roughly 45 mins of gametime.

Just when you thought it was safe to stop geeking out about WS.

I couldn't be more excited for that. I'm LOVING the menu of instanced options, especially since the Shiphands can scale 1-5 players and are repeatable (daily resets for gold fountain?). Such a good move instead of "dumbing down" the dungeons and raids. Carbine keeps hitting all the right buttons for me. When's the shoe gonna drop??

I can already see. At release: We have reconsidered, we make our game F2P, but you will have to buy shards for real money, these shards unlock weapons, without unlocking them, you cannot use them.

If they do this, I will go to Carbine and burn down the place.

You forgot to mention the positive- they move the release date up to April 1, 2014.
