What role do you wish to play in the guild? For example: PvP, PvE, Casual/Social
The world vs world deal has me quite intrigued and I have dabbled in it a bit but I still do not know what is all going on with it. I enjoy sPVP every now and then but I would take WvW over that any day. I am having a good time enjoying all of the PVE content at the moment and appreciate that you can explore all of that content without having to make alt characters to see different areas or be challenged by it. Just did my first dungeon in story mode, pretty amazing, but I am sure having people I knew and could talk to would of made things go a lot smoother.
Which previous MMO's or online games have you played and how long for?
Jebus.... I really don't think I can recall them all, but the stand outs for me I guess are, the first online game I ever played, Tribes 1, when it came out, played that for years. My first MMO was Ultima Online shortly after its release. I was absolutely hooked on the community feeling and the thoughts of sheer terror when you see someone in the woods.. and didn't quite know if you were going to take a halberd to the face or not. Played that one a good 5 years, nothing has ever quite come close to the emotions that game would make you experience, for me at least. Other than those two big stand outs for me, I played Star Wars Galaxies for 2 years pre SOE overhaul, Everquest 2 for 2 years, Vanguard around a year. Guild Wars 1 I played for a couple years. I have tried many other MMO's but none of any time long enough to note. Other than that Iplay just about everything in between.
Were you a part of a guild? What was your experience?
I have been a part of a few guilds but the only one that stuck with me was my old Ultima Online guild [DOW]. It was a smaller very tight knit group of people. I believe I was the youngest in the guild at the time. It was a more casual setting as far as play style went but the members were all pretty hard core about their characters and doing things together. It has been the highlight for me as far as being in a "guild" goes in gaming and has kind of been what I have judged my experiences with other gaming groups by. I enjoy the closer extended family type of guilds rather than the massive 1000+ member gaming communities.
How did you hear about the Guild?
I was searching on a GW2 guilds database and trying to find a guild that only accepted older players... My attempts to find a guild that I could hop in and chat with and have a good time without having to listen to people bitching back and forth or some sort of drama going on has been pretty impossible lately it seems, so I just decided to look for ones with an older age group and maybe it would cut down on all that.
What will you bring to the ALTTABME community? (Chatty? Skilled? Funny? Helping?)
I do enjoy talking and BS'ing with people throughout the day. I am always down for grouping and doing events. I have a very thick skin and do not get offended and if you like to dish it out, I think you should be able to handle getting it right back. I work for myself at home most of the time as an iOS developer and penetration tester. So I guess if there was any need for my skill set I would have no problem offering up advice or help for people or the group. As far as gaming goes I suppose I consider myself skilled a bit more than the casual player. I usually play around 5-6 hours a day at least.
Will Arcanix be the only guild you join?
I see no reason for someone to have multiple guilds for the same game? Kind of a weird concept to me, if you have to join another guild then apparently you weren't with the right ones to begin with right?
Is there anything else you would like to throw in here at the end?
Not a whole lot else I can say without providing a full profile of myself in a public forum more revealing than what you would find on a social network, HA. I have been lucky in my career progression in life and have always found myself in smaller companies and start ups for the same reason I think that I prefer smaller groups in gaming. I like the more personal feeling of it and I think it is more enjoyable. Anyways, look forward to hearing from you guys/gals.
