Event Prep GW2 Dungeons!

I didn't really know where to put this, so I'll just put it here and see where it ends up.

So in today's meeting (3 March 2013), we talked about methods of gaining influence. One of these is by doing dungeons. For each path, individual guild members earn 10 influence. But for each path done with 3+ members in it, we earn 100 influence.

I run A LOT of these things for tokens, money, and ectos. I know there's a lot of us out there who want to run dungeons for whatever reason. So I can help teach certain paths. I think it would be a good idea if people who wanted to run the same dungeon started doing them with other people in the guild who also wanted to go instead of going straight to gw2lfg. First off, it gets us more influence, and also it improves the general skill level of our GW2 players in PvE and obviously has us working together as a guild/team/etc.

I had written up a big post full of ideas on what exactly to do but I decided it would be better to just let this out here so it's here and we can discuss this and get a feel for what people really want to do.

I think this is a great idea.

I'm all for expanding my own knowledge base, and helping others do the same. There are entire dungeons that I haven't even touched, so a resource where I can go check out what's what would be excellent.

Maybe even videos of bosses/encounters so people can get a real visual sense of what people are talking about? For example, the bosses in AC exp all have telegraphs on their major attacks. But if you don't know what they are, you get pwned. So stuff like that would be super helpful, I think.

I really really want the Arah set. :) So any help on that one would be nice.

I've done at least one path for everything except Arah. These include:

Ascalonian Catacombs: Story, Path 2
Caudecus Manor: Story, Path 1, Path 3
Twilight Arbor: Story
Sorrow's Embrace: Story
Citadel of Flame: Story, Path 1, Path 2
Honor of the Waves: All
Crucible of Eternity: Path 3

Honor of the Waves has great rewards and none of its paths are that difficult. Citadel of Flame, particularly p1 and to a certain extent p2, is really fast and easy (hence the ease of finding a group). It's also very effective for getting Berserker gear, which is in high demand. I really want to start doing CoE Exp for the torch, and CoE and Arah Story for, well, the story, but the difficulty and the big dynamic events that lock down the gate make that prohibitive. PuGs for CoF usually have their shit together, and I had one good experience with CoE, but the idea of running Arah with a grab bag of strangers sounds unpalatable at best.

The key thing for CoE is fighting Alpha. I'm told he's not as hard as he used to be, but he can still be a beast if you don't time your dodges quite right. The trick is to watch for the ridiculous number of AoEs he places on the ground, wait a beat, then dodge to evade. It also helps to stack on top of him at melee range so you can revive each other more easily. Over the course of one path run, I got a pretty good feel for the timing.

It would be nice to have Dungeon Master eventually. I have reason to want to do just about all of these, so if I'm on and have the time to commit, hit me up.

It seems Arah is in high demand. It's not a very easy dungeon but sometimes pugs can make it a true nightmare.

The problem is that with the Feb update the pre-events to open the gate have gotten a lot harder and a bit buggy. A damn shame...so if we were to schedule an Arah time, it'd probably be closed anyway.
Buuut if we do get in, and I'm around...

I know my Arah.:x
Also, I am not very good/knowledgeable at TA/HotW. Just sayin'.

As for videos, I have some very good ideas for where to find them. I just want to watch through a couple of them first and make sure they're...you know, actually good. Though its still best to get your feet wet and go in.

I'm down with this at least for the coming next couple of weeks that I'm on vacations. (just planing to stay home and play and rest as much as i can)

Well, these are very optimal speed-oriented runs from Death and Taxes (the same one that did world first like a bunch of stuff in WoW) so they aren't the absolute best example, but they're all there and they give you an idea of what the paths look like and what sorts of bosses are in them. Strife tends to give good explanations, as well.

I would also like to run quite a few dungeons. I usually run Citadel of Flame everyday, especially path 1 as its easy money and tokens. It can be done in under 10 minutes with a decent group. I also have a lot of experience in Twilight Arbour, Ascalonian Catacombs, and Caudecus' Manor. Most of the paths anyway. So if I'm on chances are I'll be up for one of them.

I am also down for dungeons whenever I am on (usually after 9pm central). I'll try to work on waypoint completion in the meantime. I"ll need for guild events also.

I am definitely interested in Arah. I haven't done most dungeons and paths, so I'm down for whatever.
