GW2 Can you have too much crit?

I was looking over my ranger's stats the other day and saw that I was at 40% crit rate. While it is awesome to see crit after crit after crit, I wonder if there's a point at which it becomes better to invest more into crit dmg or basic dmg.

Is there a crit chance "sweet spot" I should attain?

The build I'm going for is all about nuking with a longbow, with little to no regard for bleeds. I currently have greatsword for the up close and personal, with the same goal of nuking with hard crits.

The wiki has a table to help you find the sweet spot of crit chance vs. crit damage. Diminishing returns will prevent you from getting the most out of investing solely in Precision, so mix it up with some Power and Crit Dmg too.

A high crit chance, however, is extremely helpful for effects that proc on crit: Sigils of Fire, traits like Sharpened Edges, and so on. Even then, a lot of these have internal cooldowns that make them progressively less effective.

Hrm. Kind of underwhelming. Not bad enough for me to give up the build, I'm just going to have to find ways to build some synergy.
