Buying a headset

I've never once owned a headset. I've always used a pair of earphones/earbuds/whatever you wanna call 'em. For a microphone I just never had one until my most recent laptop which has one installed (which sounds pretty good considering, if the old GW2 guild meeting recordings are any indication).

But now I want to buy one for both convenience and actual quality, and I'd love some recommendations. My budget is whatever but I'm not planning on dropping like $220 on a "professional gamer" one. Currently my eyes are on a Logitech G930, which I found a thread about Zakis having back in the summer, and between that and other reviews it seems to be pretty good. But if you didn't like it or any other, feel free to tear apart whatever you want so I'll probably avoid it. Or sing some praise of a set that's worth it. tl;dr any thoughts/advice?

For audio/sound quality, a lot people say the Sennheiser PC360, for convenience I'd say the Logitech G930 or Corsair 2000 (They are releasing a newer version soon, so prices might drop) as they are both wireless.

Astro also has a decent line of headsets, however they are pricey when you purchase them with the mixamp and cost more with the wireless mixamp. I got mine without the mixamp with just stereo sound and not wireless for around $100 second hand off someone last year.
 
I have the G930 and the comfort and sound quality is great. However there can be some static and the battery is starting to go bad. If a wire isn't an issue I would just get the G35.

I still have my Logitech G930s...never use them after getting Sennheiser PC360s. The 930s have good sound quality and are wireless, but can be bass heavy, and are enclosed so they get hot in the summer. Sennheiser has epic sound quality and let your ears breathe.

Sennheiser all the way imo. Any extra money is worth it.
 
I've used headsets, but I prefer a well fitting ear-bud and a really nice mic. I have a lapel mic that works very well.

I do have a problem that I am hyper sensitive to touch so anything pressing on my ears for a long period of time really starts to hurt. It took me forever to find a set of ear-buds that I can wear for more than an hour or so. That is a big part of my decision to not have over the ear headphones personally.
 
Most league of legends pros use these. I was talking with one of them and he said they were actually the best headphones he'd ever used and he wasn't just saying that cause they were sponsored by them, cause he was sponsored by Razer too, and he said the sound quality was better and they were hardier in the Astros.
 
I would never get anything but sennheiser for my headphones. I have the 598's.

Ya, I agree with the bass and getting hot. From what everyone has been saying I guess I know what my next headset will be.

I know about this, just wanted to ask around first since I haven't any experience with these.

Sennheiser PC360 seems to be the way to go now; they're cheaper than I thought they'd be. I remember them being over $200 the last time I saw them and apparently they were judging from user reviews. The 598s are out of my range as are most of the Astros.

Well for what your price range is you can't really beat the quality and build of the 360s :)

Cheapest bang for the buck: Superlux HD 681 Evo hands down.

I have it and I love it, can wear it for 12 hours straight too. Sooo comfy. :3

Audio quality is also great.


Check the reviews for the HD 668B and original 681, could be that the Evo uses the 668B's drivers (a lot of audiophiles say that the 668B is one of the best headphones available for cheap).
 
So I did end up going with the PC360s and after using them over the weekend I've been pretty thrilled with them to say the least. Worth it (assuming they last a while).
So yes, if anyone else in the future is shopping around and finds this topic, I doubly recommend

Or you can get Baldo's $1500 set.

I'm really glad they worked out for you. They are built really well so should last you quite a bit if you don't run over the cord too much haha.
